What Atma-Nirbhar Bharat really mean?

As conveyed by our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the structure of Atma-Nirbhar Bharat is standing on five pillars namely: Economy, Infrastructure, System, Demography and Demand.

And we all know when we want to make our country strong we need to focus on these pillars to find opportunity that can be created the analysis of India Pre Covid-19 & India Post Covid-19.

1). Economy

An Economy that comes with transformational or significant changes that is important to compete with other countries also. In today’s time where we are facing a lot of difficulties in terms of businesses because of Covid-19 Pandemic, Economy as a pillar implied our ability to fight this kind of crisis in future.

We can’t tell this thing that this kind of crisis will not come back, what we can do is to make a shield that will help us cover ourselves in terms of liquidity that is the most important factor. All those sectors that are helping us fight this pandemic need to enhance their capabilities to manage the risk in.

We need to make Indian Economy strongest enough in terms of trade, relations with other countries and procure the best talent to make it a better place for business and employment.

2). Infrastructure

Infrastructure is also a vital part of our economy. It includes Buildings, Transport, Water, Power Supplies, Communication Networks, Waste Management, Education, Healthcare etc. that are all essential part of our country that everyone has a right on.

This is a point where private companies and public private partnerships all need to work out. It is important to organize our infrastructure in such a way that makes our life easy. All the running work from many years will get betterment when the stakeholders to that work will give a proper feedback about it.

Public participation will play a great part in it, which will in turn help Government as well as Private companies to come out with change.

3). System

System is defined as a particular way of doing something. And as our PM denotes that we need to have a system that is strong as well as technology driven. Technology is something that makes our life easy and saves time to become more and more productive towards our work.

Technology has answer to many things whether it comes to saving cost in a company or in increasing the income of our farmers. Yes! It can help in doing so and we need to do it as because of the farmers only our country is known as Kheti pradhan desh (Agricultural Country)

We need to find out those answers to help India get ahead for a better future. Improvement of system also includes eliminating the traditional processes that are responsible for increasing cost, low consumer satisfaction, retarded supply chain, decrement in employment etc

One of the major things that need to be changed immediately is our education system. Our Education system is the one that forms foundation for our future and if the unnecessary things are not eliminated soon then the children will learn only those things that we have learnt which are obsolete for today.

Changes can come in a great way when technology penetration will continually increase into rural areas as most of our population resides in villages. Once this thing happens, everyone will be connected to the facilities that are given by government in a very great way.

This is a thing of matter as some part of our country is highly privileged and some are partially or not privileged that causes connectivity disorder in the provision of government laid schemes and facilities.

4). Demography

Unity in diversity” is one of those things that have made India stand out always. In an area of 3.287 million sq km, a mixture of 8 religions, 22 languages with 1650 regional accents can be found in India only. This type of Diversity if used for some good, then think about it how strong we will be. India is a democratic country where every single person has a right to do what he/she wants, who they want to elect to make country grow.

Demographic study is important to be done. As said earlier there are a variety of people in India and this is important to know the needs will also vary with them. Some part of the country is less business friendly and some are very business friendly. All the age groups are having their particular need that should be identified by taking various surveys that will provide a data as per age, gender, language etc. to enhance and improve. The moment we achieve this, our country can become a better place to live and work.

Every region of India is having something different in it whether it comes to culture & tradition or it comes to businesses. And we need to identify their needs and support that they want to grow as this is where our power lies and that’s why our demography is a “Vibrant Demography”.

5). Demand

Every single business that runs in the world works on the basis of demand and supply. No business will run without any demand of the goods & services that it is providing. Business start with demand of certain solution and business idea comes when we have proper solution to fulfil the demand.

In today’s time, many businesses see a downfall because they are not coming with solutions that people want. They come with solutions of things that are not even there. We need to list down all those problems that are faced by people from a long time to gradually come out of it. Why gradually? Because somehow we are habitual with many problems that are addressed and we need to push people to get a better solution as it is necessary not only for them but also for country.

We need to take out solutions to the problems that are faced by people in the digital systems that make them rely on it. Many a times it happens as discussed earlier that our country’s some part gets their demand fulfilled and some not. And this gap won’t be filled by traditional systems as these were formed by them. Nowadays the digital economy is a key to a future where corruption will decrease and we can fulfil demand of all if it is consumed properly.

Demand of education should be fulfilled in a way that, the quality of education that is accessible to a child in urban area should be equally accessible to the child living in rural area.

Incident 1: Once when I was studying in an Engineering college, I remembered in the first year when subjects are common in every stream, I was encountered with Elements of “Civil Engineering”. A day came when we were taken for a practical in it. There was a chain survey practical that was going to be done (Which I hadn’t understood at that time).

When that practical was done, I asked the lab technician about the use of it. He said that this survey method is not used nowadays; many other methods have replaced it. I actually thought that if it not used why we are studying this and why we are wasting our practical lectures behind something like that. The reason behind the depiction of this incident is that, we need to upgrade the education system to the things that are exist now, because no one is going to ask the engineer about the non-existing systems, he/she will be asked about the systems that are existing in today.

Incident 2: This incident was also related to civil engineering. I was working in a company where I came in contact with a civil engineer who was working under a building contractor. Out of curiosity I asked him about the things he was doing in his job. He told me that he was supervising the projects that the contractor gets related to building construction, road construction etc.

And when I heard “road construction”, I eagerly asked him that why all the roads that are constructed newly are broken down again to fill the gutter lines, why don’t they put the gutter lines first and construct roads further. When government gets a matching contractor (when it applies for the tender) for any work they start that work first regardless of the need to do it again when the second tender is also given. I thought at that time that why government do such thing which waste their time and money. The reason for depicting this incident is that we need to use all our resources in a way that save our cost and time that can help to work for some more useful and important things.

India can become Atma-Nirbhar not by only boycotting foreign goods but mainly by converting our weaknesses strong. One of the major problems is the increasing population of our country that is predicted to surpass China till 2024

Increasing population becomes a problem because it comes with a question of increasing unemployment and failure to meet the demands of such big population with high diversity. This is where we need to empower ourselves. And as said before, the facilities must reach every corner of the country; we need to utilize the manpower of that place to make things happen. This is how utilization of the population can be done by giving them work at their own place.

India can become self-reliant just by our little effort; change in our mindset, shifting our mind towards innovative solutions (not just by sticking onto the old rules and methods) to make these 5 pillars strong can help us to conquer every biggest problem of our economy
